Pretty much everyone has a tooth brush, tooth paste, floss, and other supplies that they use in order to keep their teeth in perfect health. Or at least try to.

When it comes to oral health, there is a surprising list of things that many people tend to overlook. With regards to storing your toothbrush in particular, a lot of people will leave it in a cup on the shelf in the bathroom. There are a couple of risks in doing this.

Risks to the Hygiene of Your Tooth Brush

Your toothbrush is one of the most important hygiene implements that you will use when it comes to your teeth. What you need to do then is make sure that it is clean. Unfortunately, leaving it in a cup just sitting on the shelf in the bathroom is not a good idea.

There are a lot of bacteria and other germs floating in the air, which can get on to the bristles. In addition, if there is a toilet in your bathroom which there often is, particulars from the toilet can fly up into the air every time you flush.

That is also not to mention people coughing and sneezing and spreading their own germs when they enter the bathroom. Having the bristles of your toothbrush exposed is just not a good idea, you expose it, and your mouth, to more than you are bargaining for.

Other implements such as toothpaste and dental flossing, however, are usually fine as they have their own containers. Mouth guards and retainers should also not be stored in the open. If you would like to find out more about how to store your supplies correctly, you can come and speak to us should you need further advice.
