Your Teeth Want You Consuming Eggs Regularly Posted on 4/20/2019 by Sundberg Office For years eggs have gotten a bad rap. Because eggs have a fair amount of cholesterol, many people avoid them. While eating too many eggs can lead to health problems, several studies have suggested that one egg a day will not raise your cholesterol level. In fact, an egg a day can be good for you, and for your teeth as well. Here is why. Protein Eggs are high in protein. In you want to have a healthy smile, you need to have protein in your diet. The protein will help your teeth to be strong, and it is also important for your gums and your jaw. There are other foods that are high in protein, but an egg will give you a good dose of it without adding all the fat and calories that are found in meat. Preparation How you prepare your egg will make a big difference. If you cook it in a lot of fat, or if you cover it with some type of high calorie sauce, you could be doing more harm than good. If you boil or poach an egg you will not be adding extra calories. If you prefer scrambled or over easy, use as little fat as possible. If you are recovering from dental surgery, an egg is a good soft food to eat. You will get the much needed protein, and chewing will be minimal. Do not cut eggs out of your diet because you are worried that they are not good food you. Instead, limit how many you eat. Eggs can be part of a diet that is healthy for your body and for your teeth as well. If you would like to know more, we would be happy to tell you about eggs and other foods that are good for your teeth.
